A Visit From a Butterfly; Heart Guidance for May; An Offer to Pull One Intuitive Soul Call Card for You

I have two parts to this post. The first is about butterflies and signs of transformation. The second is a simple, base interpretation of a soul call card reading for May, along with an invitation to pull a card for you. They happened on different days, but as with most things in life, are clearly interwoven (which is likely why they ‘asked’ to be combined for this post).

A Butterfly Visit at the Park

If you’ve been following along via Facets of Joy community letters or my social media pages, then you know I’m in a heart-stretch of a time as I support, and advocate for, my daughter through a health crisis (so many of our systems have cracks in them; my attention is on healing, while – in general – theirs is on numbers and money).

Sometimes there are peaks in this unfolding – changes and experiences that happen quickly, without warning, and are intense and often traumatic. Even if you’re not in something similar in life (you likely aren’t and for that I am *ultra-glad*!), you can probably relate to the feel of unexpected, sudden changes that require you to re-direct your attention and presence to something other than what you were concentrating on.

In those moments, as in all others, I do my best to center, to connect with source and light-filled energy and to call in possibility.

I often don’t see ‘physical results’ from these practices, right away, but I feel a consistent thread of peace and I know possibility is present and that helps me move through the intense moments with my heart wide-open (meaning there is flow of love and peace and joy and ‘goodness’ – and I am open to receive in as well), and my faith intact.

The day after an intense peak, I was spending the morning with my ‘toddler love’ (the two year-old I am a p/t caregiver for). My heart felt tender, and my body was processing the inner pain in external ways, but I was also fully present with the toddler love, ready to celebrate our time together.

It was a beautiful day, so we decided to go to the park, which is a grassy area in the middle of a parking lot (for the people who live in the complex). I point that out because it’s not an ‘isolated’ park, and that’s important as the experience unfolds *grin*.

While we were playing at the park – remember, he’s a toddler, so lots of our play has to do with ground-level stuff, finding rocks and ‘treasures’ in the grass, digging in the mud, me watching for potential ‘hazards’ that could trip him as he runs – I felt residual heavy energy from the previous day (and weeks) dissolve.

I am sure that had a lot to do with sunshine, fresh air, being with a loving, joyful presence and I thanked myself for being open and present to all of this (because understandably, after an intense, traumatic day, I could have chosen to remain home, tucked into the safety and comfort of my bed or to be grumpy and less open about playing and enjoying the day).

When I am out and around in world, I am always looking for beauty, magic, light, etc and the toddler love has picked up on that from being with me. So, while we were playing, he spotted a butterfly flying close to us and pointed it out *butterfly* (in his toddler-speak). We both smiled and went about playing.

I heard “butterfly, butterfly” in excited toddler-speak, so I looked up from what I was doing and noticed the same butterfly again circling very close to us. It was beautiful!

Butterfly, in general, symbolizes transformation. And, is a symbol I enjoy and integrate in my life, so I felt the presence of that butterfly as a sign from Universe. And I was extra-thankful at the timing.

We both watched the area above us and sure enough, the butterfly circled back again! It was fascinating to notice that the butterfly was following a ‘pattern’: flying close to us (almost so close that at times I thought it would land on one of us), moving toward a bush (the one in the photo), then up above some smaller tree-tops, over the roof, out toward the parking lot and back toward us. For about twenty-minutes!

Remember when I mentioned the park wasn’t isolated?

Well, in my excitement, I forgot that detail. *grin*

The toddler-love was running around yelling “butterfly, hold you, come back” in his way, with his arms out-stretched, ready to catch the butterfly. By running around, I mean, following the pattern of the butterfly, which covered the stretch of park. In my wonder, awe and joy, I followed him, waving my arms around yelling “butterfly, hold you, come back”. Ha!

And, then, I realized that the park wasn’t isolated *grin*. Meaning people could definitely hear us, and likely see us. And I’m hoping what they felt was pure joy.

There were a few times that the butterfly took a rest on a bush, right by us. We ‘tip-toed’ up close and watched the wings flutter. Then, the butterfly would follow its pattern again.

I felt that the butterfly definitely wanted us to notice it’s energy and presence (due to the length of time it stayed near us and how close it was to us).

And, I feel part of its message is around ‘letting go of limiting beliefs’ (for me, in those moments, that’s around the probably and likelihood that my daughter will heal, and that I have enough presence to be the one to support her through this) and also about opening to possibility beyond what you can see.

I’m sharing this with you in case butterfly’s presence and message resonates with you, and offers inspiration and/or encouragement to your heart, on your path.

And, as a reminder that connection is always available to us, even in the moments we think it isn’t (by connection, here, I mean – universal support and physical manifestations of love).

As you think about and feel into what I’ve shared here, I’d love to know what speaks to you. Please do share in the comments below. And, thank you for sharing my butterfly experience!

A Soul Call Reading for May

I pulled these cards this morning, for some heart-guidance for the month of May.

While my formal readings are far more thorough, I was so amazed at how this theme fit in with my butterfly story that I felt nudged to share the gist of it here, with you. (Please remember, it’s the gist, the foundational energy, not the complete reading.)

I first pulled ‘glass’ which in energy work speaks about clarity (when you want more clarity, one practice is to literally clean glass in your space). Glass also speaks to fragility and care in handling something.

I then pulled ‘house’ and the first thing that came to mind is this quote “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”. Which speaks to judgment. For me, because it’s general, ‘house’ can mean wherever my energy and presence is (including my body, my heart, my mind, my actual home, whatever space I’m in as my day unfolds).

So far, to me, this says ‘you’re feeling tender in your heart and vulnerable (open to judgment) and it’s a prime opportunity to center into love and turn that love inward, to shore up your faith, your inner core beliefs, to ‘shine’ some clarity on what your heart feels and knows to be true and to bring that ‘back into’ daily life.’

And, that was going to be enough, but I felt called to pull one more card. As an anchor of sorts.

That card was ‘worship’. To me, that speaks to what I hold sacred, dear, what is special to me, important, what I cherish in thought, word and action (and the action of cherishing it). In regards to this reading, and what I’ve shared above, this speaks to me about source connection and my love for my daughter (and son) and the practice of being, and opening with, love as I mother them. And mother myself. Through this.

Overall these three cards together feel like that are saying:

Remember your practices, especially when you’re feeling tender, fragile, un-loved, in doubt. In spaces that you’re noticing self-judgment, may you choose to replace that with an energy you know is supportive and ‘good’ for you (like love, compassion, peace, etc).

May you ‘clean your house’, with love, (in all ways, energetically and physically and with your presence) so that is remains a space of peace, comfort, joy. May you open your doors (to your ‘house) to those who will offer support, encouragement, energies that light your heart.

May you treat yourself tenderly, as you would a small child who is hurt. May you treat your dreams tenderly, showing up daily to tend to them in ways that feel good to you and support their growth (and yours) with ease and joy.

May you remember to celebrate the gift of this moment, with practices that feel good to you and light your heart. May you remember what you hold sacred and dear and vest presence to it, with love, regardless of how external variables are unfolding (as in sure, they require attention, but first place your attention on what is sacred to you – and in that, your heart will feel peace and those variables will unfold, perhaps to reveal possibility that you hadn’t considered).

As you feel into this energy, if something speaks to you, or you have another interpretation you’d like to share, please do so in the comments below.

Requesting a Soul Call Card for May

I’m feeling very centered and open to share energy, so I’d like to bring back an offer I’ve shared in the past:

An invitation to open this new month of May by sharing heart-guidance, through pulling one intuitive soul call card for you, per your request in the comment section.

(If you’d like to get a feel for ‘how it works’, you can click the above link to my February offer – in the comment section, there, you can get an idea of what a reading looks like and how it might feel.)

If you are reading this and your heart says ‘yes, please’ to receiving in the energy and guidance from one intuitive soul call card, then simply comment “yes, please” by Thursday, May 4, 2017 11p (pacific time).

Each person who leaves a comment (by the ‘deadline’ above) will receive their own card. I will post the card and any insights along with it, in a response comment to you.

*Please note: I won’t be emailing you directly, I will respond to you via your comment on this post – so you can either subscribe to reply comments or return back to read what I’ve shared for you.

I will be pulling cards as time allows, so it won’t be ‘instantaneous’ but it will be timely.

If you like the feel of the cards and the guidance you receive (either from this, or if you’ve previously had a reading with me), you might be interested in a personal intuitive soul call card reading. I offer a 3- or 9- card spread.

Blessings to you as this new month unfolds!

Much peace,

Joy

I have mentioned in my Facets of Joy community letters, that I have a rare opening in my schedule, so I am free to facilitate two *full immersion personal sessions* this month. • Hi Jean,

I really believe the ‘toddler love’ has angel energy and we have lots of fun together experiencing ‘magical things’ like this butterfly. Being around this ‘toddler love’ is a joy and keeps my heart open during this stretch of a time. I am sure you and I would have a similar experience together (as far as ease, joy and ‘magic’)!

Here is the heart guidance for your intuitive soul call card:

When I pull cards and read them, I like to share the physical space to kind of ‘bring it to Earth’ but also because sometimes there is a message in it that speaks to the recipient.

Today, I’m doing something different in regards to pulling cards. I *always* pull them in the energy of my own room, in my own home – mainly because I spend time, daily, cultivating the energy there, so it’s very potent. All I need to do is center and ‘step into’ my space, and it’s easy to tap into guidance.

In trying something different, I brought my ‘centered, smudged’ self to a local cafe – mainly because I currently like the feel of the seating there, better. That’s interesting to me, because it means I’m calm and accessing energy in the midst of ‘busyness’ and it’s still incredibly comfortable and fun. Later today, I will stream this out in my journal for myself, but for now I feel it has something to do with ‘being willing to step out of my comfortable space, to be ‘seen’, sharing my gifts while in mainstream’. I am sharing this, for you to feel into to see if the themes of ‘too comfortable’ or of ‘trying something far different than you normally do when sharing your gifts’ speaks to you in any area of your life.

So, time-wise, it’s mid-afternoon. On the drive over, I was smiling because the sun is peeking through rain clouds, with bits of blue sky visible between the clouds. It rained earlier this morning and I know there is a rainbow, even if I can’t see it from where I am in town. (Which to me speaks to trusting in the unfolding of natural cycles along with trusting in the flow of ‘blessings’ and that the ‘promises’ you believe to be true from your spiritual beliefs and practices are really true, for you, right where you are, as you are.)

I also just watched my son perform in his first-ever dance (only, not aerial and dance combined) show. My eyes filled with tears as he danced – because he is incredibly graceful and emotive and the audience connects with that through him. And, I know that this is his passion and he’s living it *because* of daily devotion to his craft, including hours-long practices and a willingness to learn new moves and techniques from others he admires. Perhaps you can feel into this for inspiration (like I do) and encouragement for you to practice your craft, to devote consistent time and energy to doing what your heart loves – regardless of whatever is attempting to distract you in life.

I didn’t bring any stones with me, specifically to pull cards with, but I do have a brown, spiral, shell-shaped stone in my pocket – a gift from a friend who shares my shamanic and energetic interests. I put that on the table as I pull cards.

With that, the card I pulled for you is *knot*.

The placement of knot here as we open a new month invites you to feel into the energy of this month and the rest of this season (Spring, currently for you, right?) and see if there is any constriction around the natural cycles and seasons in it. As Spring energies course through, is there something your heart wishes to experience or create that your mind is struggling with (as in it being possible for you, or you having skills or resources)? If so, perhaps something I shared in the introduction will speak to you.

If there is constriction, understanding that brings peace, and within that understanding you have the choice to hold space for the unfolding of the constriction and/or to do inner work with it. If there is no constriction, ask knot what message it has for you.

Also, is there something you have committed to in the near future that you no longer wish to be present to? That could be a source of tension as well.

The flip side is to be aware of what you commit your time, energy and presence to. Consider what you value, what is important to you, energetically and physically and then whether your daily life allows for you to experience/feel these elements or if something is constricting in that for you. This speaks to boundary work, as well, giving yourself ample space, time and resources to create what your heart asks you to, and connect with what is important to you.

And it might be that people around you, either in your space or in your energetic ‘family or peer group’ hold different values and interests that are important to them. That’s okay – it doesn’t necessarily have to create a barrier, although it can, because boundary work allows you each to focus on your individual paths, then bring that joy and heart-light to your shared connection.

It’s really important to at least be aware of the energy self-compassion and to do your best to turn it inward and love yourself through daily life (and allow yourself to enjoy the unfolding of daily life) instead of judging or criticizing yourself. Even if – especially if – you feel like you don’t fit in or belong in specific settings (there are many settings you will fit in with and belong – as each of us do, and putting yourself in those spaces that feel ‘perfect to you’ will heal older heart wounds and keep your heart open to newness).

I love to look at the positive of things: One aspect of knot that is dear to my heart is that of an ‘anchor’. Right? I don’t knit or crochet but I know the knots hold the piece together. As a sailor, I know the knots in the lines strengthen them so they can hold sails. With that, then, there is an invitation to consider what you are choosing to anchor to, center into, use to root into so your being may experience the feel of thriving.

Of course, if you’re listening to your heart and creating what you are nudged to and connecting with people who support, love and appreciate you, you might begin to choose things that are different from past choices, explore different ways of moving and creating, deepen your current practices and ways that light your heart, connect in different ways or with different people. So much uncertainty. But as long as you keep yourself centered, and you’re committing with love and joy, what you experience will feel fulfilling and fun (not heavy or draining).

One thing I love about knot is that it can be undone. So, if we liken knot to constriction, there is ‘hope’ because we can understand and dissolve the heaviness in the knot, one thread at a time.

Also, ‘knot’ could be physical – a place in your body where constriction is speaking to you via discomfort or pain. I will send blessings to that. The invitation in it would be to pour lots of love into that space, and into your body (replacing any self-judgment or self-irritation, with self-love).

With that, I am sure ‘knot’ speaks to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

I find, if you allow what I’ve presented to settle, as you move through your day, or the next few, some ‘aha’ will happen and this message will speak directly to you and make sense.

If you have any questions, or would like to share any insights or feedback, please do ask and/or share.

Love to you!!! And blessings as your week unfolds!

Yes please! Thanks and blessings Joy.

    • Hi Valerie,

When I pull cards and read them, I like to share the physical space to kind of ‘bring it to Earth’ but also because sometimes there is a message in it that speaks to the recipient.

So, in the middle of writing out your reading, I had a nudge to return home (I was at a local cafe). It was odd, right?, because I was in the middle of something, but I listened, and I packed up my stuff right then and drove home. It had started sprinkling, although the sun was peeking through fluffy clouds, and…the *moment* I returned home and parked the car, I got out and saw a huge rainbow!! I love rainbows and I really ‘needed’ one, because I’d been keeping present to my faith and my practices yet feeling discouraged with some stuff as I support my daughter. So, this rainbow felt like it was saying ‘you’ve been doing the work and goodness is coming…hang in there’ (because the energy of rainbows is in part chakra colors and also in part a reminder of spiritual connection and abundance). So, I’m sharing my ‘rainbow energy’ with you.

And, if you’d like to read about the energy of the cafe I was in (and how I said I know there is a rainbow even if I can’t see one), please check out any of the other comments, and read their intro. Actually, it’s probably good if you read that intro on another comment anyway, since it has some other reflections in it.

And, also I invite you to feel into the idea that my heart ‘needed’ a sign, and a very special to me, clear one was given, in a way I couldn’t miss (unless I ignored my nudge to leave because it wasn’t logical). Maybe that is encouragement to ask for a sign, and be open to receive one!!

One other note is that in following my heart, I allowed your intuitive soul call card reading to be unique and different from the others (the intro makes the foundation the same). That flows in with your reading and perhaps has a message in it for you (to apply to something in your own life – to give yourself freedom to listen and follow through, even if it doesn’t seem logical, and to allow goodness to flow from that).

With that, the card I pulled for you is *bitter*.

This is interesting to me, because I don’t perceive or feel you as a ‘bitter’ person. But, I do trust the energy of the cards, so rather than pull a different one, I’ll share the energy of this with you.

And, it could be that someone is feeling bitter toward you – whether or not you know it; which is a reminder about the power of boundaries and the practice of ‘owning what’s yours’ and letting the rest pass on through. Being love-based doesn’t mean we can, or will, please everyone, but it does mean that we’ll be present with, and act with, love, as we are able, in the moment we are in. And, some people will feel disappointed, and even angry, with your boundaries, and with your choices (as a natural push-back, although we sometimes take it personally) and that’s theirs to deal with. you may wrap it all in love in an attempt to lighten it when the person is ready, but they may never be ready. Again, that’s theirs to ‘own’ and you have every right to continue enjoying life and living your dreams and experiencing as much goodness as you can open to experience! Maybe this has a message in it for you. (It feels like this is the element that wished to be addressed.)

Let’s look at the general energy of bitter, to see if there is some other guidance in it for you. In my response to Molly, on this thread, I shared guidance for the card ‘medicine’ and I think that might have some applicable guidance for you as well (since bitter can be associated with medicine). Instead of copying and pasting it, here, I invite you to read it under her name in the comments.

The thing about bitter is that no one really enjoys the taste – it’s something lots of people wish to avoid, and even fear. I think about my daughter taking medicine that her body really needed at the time, and saying it tasted so bitter, it made her ill. This applies to physical things we wish to avoid, as well, because we think it will be unpleasant, but we also know deep within being present and/or processing it, will heal us in some way.

My guidance is to not ‘force yourself’ through bitterness, but to balance that out (if you are feeling it) with lots of sweetness (not necessarily junk food, but energies and experiences that feel like a treat, that are pleasant and enjoyable). And in sweetness, one naturally feels joy and delight – which is wonderful, heart-healing and heart-opening ‘medicine’. Also, be ‘sweet’ to yourself with your words – your self-talk and that which you say about yourself.

Bitter as an intuitive soul call card could mean that you regret trusting (yourself, source, the unfolding process, another person) or opening to share your energy, presence, skill-set in a specific experience that didn’t turn out like you wished, or caused pain. If this feels resonant for you, the ‘heart medicine’ is to gently ease yourself back into trust – by first making sure your base needs are met and that your body feels comfortable and safe (all of which re-builds trust with yourself), then sharing your presence with resonant energy, in resonant-energy spaces (all of which re-builds trust) and from that foundation, when you are ready, to open to share outside of your comfort zone. It’s a practice of presence, and it’s gentle, which I recommend gentle because it’s less shocking to your body (meaning there is less resistance and less fear, because there is less pain – which is also heart-healing).

Of course, another facet of bitter is feeling ‘angry, resentful, hurt’, all of which can become a barrier to flow, even if it’s stuffed down and you’re not currently aware you are holding it. This speaks to lots of self-love, self-compassion, self-forgiveness, turned inward, in general, and also to being kind and gentle with yourself if you are feeling inner constriction but perhaps aren’t feeling clarity around why it exists.

Sometimes we become used to something tasting or feeling bitter and we don’t realize how unpleasant it is because it’s become familiar. So, this could be a reminder of the *goodness of love* (and that it isn’t unpleasant, so if you’re feeling something ‘not lovely’, to trust your feeling and remove your presence or shore up your boundaries.)

One other note: regarding ‘heart medicine’ – some people believe that healing will hurt or be unpleasant (bitter), and it can be but it doesn’t have to be. You can heal in gentle, loving, joyful ways.

With that, I am sure ‘bitter’ speaks to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

With that, the card I pulled for you is *mystery/unknown*. Ha! So, I pulled as second card to go along with that ‘child’.

Let’s start with ‘mystery/unknown’. Perhaps it is that your mind would like to know ‘how’ something is going to work/turn out if you choose to be present to it. Perhaps your mind wants to know if you are choosing the ‘right direction’ on your path. The invitation of the card is to continue to trust in your heart guidance and inner knowing, to follow threads of love and joy, even if you don’t know exactly where they will lead or what will be placed/experienced as a result of your choice to be present. (Even if others question you and you don’t have specific, ‘logical’ answers).

You’re a woman of great faith (I feel) so you can feel into it from that perspective. Have faith, do practices to amplify your faith when it wavers and to surround yourself/connect with people who share similar inspiring and love-based beliefs as you (and who will remind you of them if you temporarily forget). What does it take to move forward when *you really don’t know*? Love. Self-love, spiritual connection, and receiving love in from others and world.

I feel this is where ‘child’ comes in. A child’s energy is at base trusting, playful, open and receptive *and* they have amazing, natural discernment and boundaries (meaning if they don’t like something or someone, they don’t convince themselves they do, they simply remove their presence and re-direct their attention to something they do like). Also, children love learning – to them, learning is through play, it’s fun and when it’s not fun, they do something else (I’m thinking of the toddler love I wrote about in the article above as I feel into ‘child’ energy).

Knowing the little I do about you from bits you’ve shared, these two cards together could be speaking to your piano classes – maybe you’re considering something about a student – and it’s reminding you to use discernment, to remember to allow your teaching to be fun, and to allow yourself to learn from what you experience as you teach. I know you’re also a student in some spaces, so maybe this is speaking to ‘yes, that is the right for you path, even if you have *zero* idea of where it will lead’. And to allow yourself to enjoy your experience and allow that joy to be the current that guides you.

When I see ‘child’ now in life, I think of mothering my inner child. It’s incredibly heart-healing – even of deep, ‘old’ wounds that I felt couldn’t be healed or would be too painful to even try to heal. What does mothering my inner child include? Making sure my base needs are met, with love (not obligation), listening to my own preferences and honoring them as I move through my day, making sure my words to (and about) myself are kind, compassionate, loving). Connecting with people who light my heart. Lots of play, even during daily tasks. Great boundary work – keeping my body and being physically and energetically comfortable and safe. Maybe something in that speaks to you.

With that, I am sure ‘mystery/unknown’ and ‘child’ speak to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

With that, the card I pulled for you is *fire*.

I personally love this card (but I love the element of fire). And, I love this card for you!

What I would say, from knowing you, is to concentrate on sun energy and this is why. You know I love going to the ocean at sunset – for me, it’s a practice of presence. I look at and feel into the energy of sun, and when I’m there long enough, I can start to feel my divine dna, my divine roots. I breathe that in, and it amplifies the purity and potency of my heart energy. I remember who I am and what I’m made of – even if I’ve been doubting that in my daily life. I invite you to feel into this for yourself. I remember you used to love to allow Sun to warm your face – and I invite you to spend time doing that, again (and if you already are, to spend more time doing that).

Also, this speaks to radiance, right? Your inner radiance. An invitation to allow your inner radiance to shine, brightly, as you move through each day – to draw to you blessings and possibility and ‘open doors’, and love in all of the ways it manifests in life and all of the spaces it wishes to work it’s magic in your life. When you are radiant, you experience radiance and that is powerful stuff (as you know). (I love your radiance, by the way!!)

There are many layers to this fire card, so let’s look at a few more.

Let’s feel into *fierce love* – that fiery passion, that guides you to say ‘no, thank you’ to activities and energies that can become a barrier to the fullness of what you want to experience in life (in all areas of life). That joy that says ‘yes, please’ to listening to your heart and following through with action.

And what plays into the focused burning of this *fierce love* is attention, intention and boundaries. Right? (Otherwise *everything* would burn and we don’t want that). What we focus on grows, and where you place your love is blessed, beyond measure. So, turning that fierce love inward will help ‘cauterize’ any ‘new, fresh, or tender’ heart wounds. That feels like a strong invitation to share with you. It’s a healing, heart-opening, practice. And turning that fierce love externally, is such a strong, clear vibration that it’s kind of like it’s own energetic shield – only allowing similar fierce love, in all forms, into your energetic and physical experienced of life.

To keep fire burning, we need to tend to it. This could be an invitation for you to remember to do practices of presence that keep you comfortable and open, that keep you inspired and encouraged, that connect you to light and love in ways that feel good to you.

I personally also love Kali energy – she is a Goddess of truth, among other things, and uses ‘fire’ to burn away untruths. Those nagging doubts and limiting thoughts that you likely have done inner work around but sometimes keep popping back in during the most vulnerable of times (for example, as romance unfolds in your life). So, when you hold the fierce love, turned inward, it reminds you of what you feel and know at a cellular level, which then releases those doubts, because you can feel how untrue they are in this moment (not in a judgmental way, but in a discerning way).

Fire can be a warm, connecting energy (thinking about people sitting around a fireplace or outdoor fire pit area, conversing, laughing, enjoying each other’s company). So, this speaks to joy in community, and also cultivating and celebrating the energy of warmth in ways that feel good to you, in your home and in your community. This not only speaks to keeping yourself physically warm, but also your heart-light radiating and sharing that heart-light with others (as you already do, but a question could be, in what way might you be called to share that heart-light in a new form, in new spaces and/or with new to you connections?).

And, fire is a light, yes? We can light a candle, or a torch I suppose, as a way to ‘see in the dark’ or at least be most comfortable while we ‘sit’ in the dark. Which could be literal, and could be a metaphor. It might be an invitation to review your faith – to sit with the sparks of love, trust, patience, joy, peace, etc and let them do their work on your heart, and also in the process to naturally amplify them with your presence. Then, to share that ‘kindling’ with others, to encourage and inspire them on their path (in ways the feel good to you).

In general, I do feel that this card speaks to your romance, to remembering to shine your light brightly even if someone is criticizing it or attempting to dim it, to celebrate the love that you are and that you manifested in, and to burn away doubts and untruths that might be popping forward from past experiences that don’t have anything to do with your current one. To remember that you deserve a love that lights your life and to celebrate the heck out of it.

With that, I am sure ‘fire’ speaks to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

“Butterfly, hold you…..” Gosh, how I love that.

Yes, please. How are you, Joy?

    • Hi Julie,

It lights my heart that you love ‘hold you…..’!

I’m in a heart-stretch of a time, supporting my daughter through something ‘intense’, which ultimately brings me strongly into my faith (because that’s always what I choose, at base). I understand her path is hers to live, but she’s a minor and it intersects with mine directly, which is where the chaos and pain happen. All I can do, am doing, is love us through this and keep on praying that openings appear. And, alongside that, my own path is unfolding well, with peace and joy and love and I keep being present on it. Thank you for asking!

Here is the information on your intuitive soul call card:

With that, the card I pulled for you is *stolen*.

I don’t know you enough to know how this directly applies to you, but I can share this:

All of my work, in general and with these cards, is from a heart-healing, love-based perspective.

Stolen speaks to me of grace, compassion, boundaries, choosing to be open to flow (and natural cycles and seasons within flow), and choosing to be present to all that cultivates feelings of comfort and safety in your body and being and all spaces you choose to be present to in life.

There is an obvious definition of ‘stolen’ that I can’t ignore and will speak to in a moment, but my first feeling about ‘stolen’ as it might apply to you is around the concept of ‘secret’ – like in the phrase ‘steal a glance’ – and also the meaning in the idiom ‘steal away’. First, though, through this process, you can see that I’m not choosing the obvious to speak to, I’m feeling into ‘beyond the obvious’ and the resonance and message in that; something you can feel into and apply to an area in your life you’d like more clarity and/or peace in.

It feels to me like perhaps there is something that you desire to be present to or create that you don’t feel you have ample time or resources for (perhaps) or maybe you’re doubting other’s reception or approval of, so you’re not completely and fully present to it – you’re only present when you ‘steal away’ – which means your best energy is going to other people and things, and your ‘leftover’ energy is going toward this that you love or is an understandable excuse in your mind for not being present to it. If there is a lack of peace, it’s around the dissonance of not fully expressing the love, delight, passion that your heart longs to be present to/with, and that longs to be loved and appreciated by others.

And, it could be that you’re admiring, and/or inspired by someone else’s work/creative expression, or a field that is new and exciting to you, and you want to connect with them or that energy, but you’re not allowing yourself the fullness of expressing your feelings or sharing your presence (thus, the ‘stolen glance’ energy) or you’re hiding it away (for example, if you’ve bought a painting but you don’t feel others in your circle will approve, so you don’t hang it in a community room).

With that, let’s look at the obvious definition: something that has been taken from you or that you have taken from another, without consent. From a spiritual perspective, there is ‘peace’ in the unfolding – everything is replaceable (again from a spiritual perspective). I find it interesting that I got up to take a quick break from writing this, and I still had my car keys and phone on the table, along with my computer and my bag with everything in it, and I was thinking ‘how ironic if after writing that my physical stuff was stolen!’ (It wasn’t.)

However in this physical world, feeling like something has been taken from you or that you’ve caused harm by taking something from another can be painful and can become a barrier to fullness of connection, and to presence and receptivity in flow. This is where grace, compassion, self-love, comfort and safety in your body and being come in. We can’t change the past, but we can do our best to pour tons of self-love into our being, and to make different choices in the present and as we move forward. We can heal heart-pain. And, in that healing, we can open to *more* love (being it, receiving it, experiencing it). We can create boundaries (not barriers) so that we feel comfortable and safe and open to share and receive in like-energy and love-based spaces that feel good to be in.

Sometimes, when we are hurt, or feel we’ve caused hurt, it’s common to create inner barriers to flow, which can ‘steal’ your current joy, feel of abundance, trust; understanding that can bring peace (without shifting or changing something). I was raised Catholic (although I no longer practice) and the idea of ‘self-penance’ (disciplining myself, holding myself away from flow or source) caused lots of inner pain for many years. Since I was nudged to share that, perhaps something in it speaks to you. If you find you’ve ‘stolen’ something from yourself, even inadvertently like this, you always have the choice to ‘give it back’ in this present moment, with love, peace, joy, gratitude.

With that, I am sure ‘stolen’ speaks to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

I find, if you allow what I’ve presented to settle, as you move through your day, or the next few, some ‘aha’ will happen and this message will speak directly to you and make sense.

If you have any questions, or would like to share any insights or feedback, please do ask and/or share.

  6. Yes please and what a beautiful and magical post ?

    • Hi Tanya,

I’m glad you enjoyed this post!

Here is the information on your intuitive soul call card:

So, time-wise, it’s now late-afternoon.

Also, because it’s now late-afternoon, this cafe is hosting happy hour, which is incredibly busier than when I started pulling cards. I find it fascinating that I am aware of the bustle and energy, but am completely centered and very into what I’m doing. I think that speaks to the power of centering and also energetic boundaries. I wouldn’t normally choose this, and because of that, I am greatly enjoying it.

With that, the card I pulled for you is *ground*.

I shared this with Julie, above, in her reading and I’m going to share this paragraph with you, too, because it applies: There is an obvious definition of ‘ground’ that I can’t ignore and will speak to in a moment, but my first feeling about ‘ground’ as it might apply to you is around the is different from that. Through this process, you can see that I’m not choosing the obvious to speak to, I’m feeling into ‘beyond the obvious’ and the resonance and message in that; something you can feel into and apply to an area in your life you’d like more clarity and/or peace in.

Okay, so when I pulled ground, for you, the less obvious definition is about ‘bringing something (in this case, energy, intention, spiritual connection, ethereal inner knowing, crown chakra and divine energy), ‘down to the ground’, into daily life. This is a powerful invitation. It’s saying it’s great to energetically feel these things, and to vision and dream and call-in, and it’s better (meaning to experience in your daily life), to bring these things *to the ground*, right into the daily unfolding of life. In a practical sense, part of the invitation is to (wait!! I just sneezed, in this loud cafe, and this lady screamed from across the room ‘bless you’ – and that feels to me like a perfect example of what I’m writing here, to you! Ha!)…..

So, part of the invitation is to take actions steps aligned with your visioning, to *be* that crown chakra energy as you move through your day, as you create and connect. To connect with source energy ‘even in the mundane’ (for example, parking your car or running errands or whatever you consider mundane). May it *all* be sacred. May you feel sacred as you are being and doing the living of your daily life. My how the feel of daily life would likely change with this practice (change in a peaceful, joyful, flowing kind of way).

It would be understandable if you felt fear at the thought – and that’s where the obvious definition of *ground* comes in: do practices that center, that connect you in a balanced way to Mother Earth and to life on Mother Earth.

Overall, the energy of this card is saying ‘yes to ethereal’ and *triple yes* to focusing your attention and energy and presence to this life, here on Earth, as you are, as it is. And, when you feel someone is criticizing or attacking you (and that could be your own self, your own words, or that of another), or you feel doubts, or you feel love that is so magnificent fear arises with it….do your grounding practices (stretching, walking in nature, eating root produce, sitting in meditation and most importantly taking care of your own base needs, with love and joy – not obligation – because you want to thrive and to support yourself in thriving), anchor to your roots and allow your heart to heal and open from there. (Gosh, that was quite a run-on sentence – there is lots of passion in it!)

And, put your being in spaces that feel grounding and around people whose energy supports the feeling of being grounded.

Since it’s Spring, and Spring is a time of flourishing (and also great manifesting energy) ‘ground’ is also saying ‘plant seeds with intention’, keep planting seeds – meaning keep dreaming and dream big, keep asking ….. you can’t dream too much or too big or ask for too much or ‘too big’ – please don’t censor or restrain your heart whispers or dreams…

One note: as you continue refining your craft and sharing your work, more people are drawn to it, and part of this sharing is to *be open to receive in* = compliments, money, opportunities, accolades. If you feel uncomfortable with any of this…what shall you do to keep your heart open and to amplify this flow? Ground. Deeply. Anchor. Deeply. And keep sharing and opening because you, and the world, deserves all of the goodness from what you share.

With that, I am sure ‘ground’ speaks to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

  7. Yes, please & thank you! You are always so giving!

    • Hi Kathy,

I do my best to share what I have, with people who enjoy and appreciate it; with that, giving, here is easy and fun and lights my life!

Here is your intuitive soul call card information:

When I pull cards and read them, I like to share the physical space to kind of ‘bring it to Earth’ but also because sometimes there is a message in it that speaks to the recipient.

I didn’t bring any stones with me, specifically to pull cards with, but I do have a brown, spiral, shell-shaped stone in my pocket – a gift from a friend who shares my shamanic and energetic interests. I put that on the table as I pull cards.

With that, the card I pulled for you is *tangle*.

Tangle and ‘knot’ are similar in energy, so I invite you to read through my response to Jean in the first comment on this post. It will have relevant information for you, without me re-typing it (which I feel would make this comment less manageable for you).

When I see ‘tangle’ in these intuitive soul call cards, it speaks to me of different threads so woven together, that clarity and comfort (both) might feel far away. As I specialize in clarity, the energy of ‘tangle’ doesn’t scare me, because I know that I can patiently, lovingly ‘dis-entangle’ even the biggest knot (and you, and everyone can, too). The ‘challenge’ is that people tend to associate the concept of tangle with ‘overwhelm’ or ‘impossible’ – the peace in that is found in recognizing that everything can be dis-entangled, and if one doesn’t have the patience, desire or skill, another can help. Perhaps if you feel into that, there is a message for you.

Often, when different energetic threads feel tangled up, doubt and fear arise because in that tangle our natural radiant light and inner knowing is shadowed a bit. One way to shift the feel of tangled (even if the threads don’t change) is to center and connect to source – to remind yourself of who you are. Energetically, it is possible to ‘throw this tangle’ away, but then the lesson isn’t learned or integrated, and is likely to return – so an invitation here is to patiently, lovingly, without shocking your system or making it your sole focus, do inner work to gently untangle your ‘story’, patterns, tenderness in wounded spaces, pain. Who are you without this ‘tangle” – radiant light. You are you *with* this tangle: radiant light. I invite you to feel into this.

Another angle to this, is life can unfold smoothly, peacefully, joyfully, alongside this ‘tangle’ – and recognizing that, and allowing it, often brings peace. Right, so an example from my current life is that I currently can’t ‘fix’ my daughter’s intense experience or the pain in the spaces where her path intersects mine (and understanding it’s not to be fixed yet, or mine to fix, yet brings peace, even with that pain) *and* my life path continues to unfold, daily, alongside, with, this tangle – not directly affected by it as I hold space. This can apply to heart wounds from the past, to patterns that come forward, to current heart pain, to anything that is uncomfortable in our bodies or being – life still unfolds, alongside it. Perhaps you can feel into this and find encouragement, peace and/or inspiration in it.

I am sure when you read ‘tangle’ your mind likely went straight to something that’s feeling ‘tangled’ for you. I invite you to consider the most powerful ‘dis-entangling energy’ is love. Love yourself with your ‘tangles’, love yourself through the ‘tangles’.

As I type that, I think of hair-conditioner, that works it’s magic on hair tangles. Love is like that (gosh, that might be woo, but it’s so true!)

Energetically we can feel constricted or caught in another’s energy – as in what we feel isn’t ours directly to feel or take on or process. There is a process I learned from Access Consciousness that I’ve shared quite a bit in my Facets of Joy spaces, when something feels ‘heavy’ ask if it’s yours, and ‘return to sender, with love’ (I added the ‘with love’ to the practice because if it *is* mine, at least I’ve lightened it by adding love!). I find I’ve carried energy/heaviness that isn’t mine – sometimes I’ve carried it for years, until I’ve sent it back. With love, also means without criticizing or judging myself for carrying it – to love myself to the next step, opening, action, healing.

With that, I am sure ‘tangle’ speaks to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

      • Yes, I am currently working through “tangles” as my past & present circumstances mirror each other. Thank you for the insight, Joy ?

  8. Yes, please…and thank you, for this especially…
‘May you treat yourself tenderly, as you would a small child who is hurt. May you treat your dreams tenderly, showing up daily to tend to them in ways that feel good to you and support their growth (and yours) with ease and joy.’
    A timely reminder, if ever…

    • Hi Molly,

I’m glad you enjoyed that passage and pulled it out. It’s very powerful for me to read, right now. It would be a great meme!!

Here is the information on your intuitive soul call card:

So, time-wise, it’s now late-afternoon.

With that, the card I pulled for you is *medicine*.

This is an interesting card for you. Hmmmm…..

From a soul perspective, I feel the best medicine is love. With that, the energy in this card is reminding you to ‘take your energetic medicine’, daily. The forms of that will differ, as the energy of each day differs, your personal preferences differ, the natural cycles and seasons you are in differ. So, it’s not ‘taking this medicine’ on auto-pilot or out of habit, it’s ‘ingesting love’, with awareness, and mindfulness.

I love this idea of ‘ingesting love’ with mindfulness!! I love it so much I might create a course around it! The above paragraph looks so short and simple but contains such potent heart guidance in it. Part of it is to allow and understand that your personal preferences will change, daily and depending upon what you are in, and also as your heart heals, and as you do inner work to shift energy and re-pattern constrictive ways, and to open to more resonance. Any place that you might be judging or criticizing yourself for that change, may you replace that with love. And, if someone else is judging or criticizing you, may you allow that energy to pass on by, instead of internalizing it, because it’s not-resonant with love.

This also speaks to boundaries, then and discernment about where you place your presence, attention and energy. I believe that for love-based people, boundaries *are our best friends*, yet some people are so reluctant to use them because they are afraid of potentially hurting someone (but not using them, tends to cause inner pain).

Let’s go back, though, to the idea of ‘heart medicine’. Besides ‘ingesting medicine’, another perspective is to do what is good for your heart, what grows love in your life, what stokes your inner fire. To do this consistently, because it lights your life, and supports your ability to thrive and flourish.

One note: as you evolve and grow, your heart medicine changes, too. So what you loved two years ago, might be something that bores you now. That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you, that simply means that your tastes have changed. Recognizing that often brings freedom and joy. And, also gives you inner permission to try new things, and to be thoroughly excited about trying them!

In general, there is a stigma around medicine. Lots of people tend to resist taking medicine, or take it out of fear (or don’t take it out of fear). Lots of people think medicine has to be harsh or gross. I invite you to think about and feel into this for yourself to see if you’re holding any beliefs that are potentially constricting (and to do some inner work to understand, and open around them, if you wish). These beliefs could hamper joy in your practices (and shifting that is simply about being present to, and with, joy and thanking yourself for doing so).

From a spiritual perspective, heart medicine is healing and heart-opening, but even knowing that, some people resist (ingesting love, daily or doing things that light their heart daily). Why? Because being ‘whole’, excuse and barrier-free, able and willing and open to create and connect and live their passions and dreams can be scary – some people are used to the feeling and being of ‘woundedness’ or in pain. And that’s okay. Understanding that, if it’s true about yourself, can bring peace and can be the foundation for opening, gently, through it, when – or if – you wish.

I don’t give medical advice, here (please see a trained medical professional for that); however, it’s obvious this could be about physical medicine. And questioning a medical direction or path. An invitation is to ask what would love (balanced, centered, knowing love) do/choose? Choosing Western medicine that feels aligned with your beliefs and practices is a strength (I believe), and part of that is giving your body what is ‘healthy and good for it’ (whether that’s physical medicine or holistic or a combination). Your body deserves to be comfortable and pain-free, from that foundation, holistic healing is easier and most effective (and your heart can remain open, or open further because your body is feeling comfortable and safe.

I also recommend that you read my intuitive soul call card guidance to Tanya; it’s ‘ground’ and feels like ‘medicine’ for you (for us all, really!)

With that, I am sure ‘medicine’ speaks to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

Would love a soul reading card….Thank-you! My heart is a flutter…I found a soul inspiring love! A feeling I’ve never experienced before & never want to lose!

    • Hi Linda,

I *love* that your heart is a-flutter!!! Blessings to your heart as you are present to experiencing this soul-inspiring love and as it works it’s magic in your life!!

Here is your intuitive soul call card reading:

What I find ultra-interesting is that you had written of ‘finding love’ – this experience that makes your heart flutter and is soul inspiring! So, maybe I needed that rainbow-infusion (which lights my heart greatly) to be in the same vibration as you when I respond.

And, also I invite you to feel into the idea that my heart ‘needed’ a sign, and a very special to me, clear one was given, in a way I couldn’t miss (unless I ignored my nudge to leave because it wasn’t logical). Maybe that speaks to this love you are in and experiencing. Or is encouragement to ask for a sign, and be open to receive one!!

With that, the card I pulled for you is *forest*.

This is an interesting card for you. You spoke of love and I pulled ‘forest’. Hmmmm….

On my drive home (from the cafe) I knew I pulled forest for you – because I had been in the middle of your reading. What popped into my mind during my drive was the idea that each tree is different and beautiful, in it’s own way. Each tree is unique. And thrives in that uniqueness. It doesn’t try to be something different or ‘better’, it simply grows where it is, to the fullest of its potential. That feels to me like a beautiful invitation that you can apply to any area of life that you wish.

And, also a great metaphor for the love you are experiencing and perhaps encouragement to allow it to be different from anything you’ve experienced before (or anything those around you have experienced before), to allow it to support your being in thriving in daily life (and in this love)….to allow yourself to be unique and different (from however you’ve been before) in it, and because of it. Do you know what I mean? Allow this love to be what it is, and yourself to experience the fullness of it and to be changed in wonderful, healing, joyful, delightful ways as you experience it.

Let’s look at the energy of ‘forest’. A forest is comprised of a bunch of trees. The physical characteristics of each forest, including what kind of trees and animals they are made of, is dependent upon where it is located in world. A forest can be a home to many different animals. It is easy to look around a forest and see examples of natural cycles and seasons, in the trees and in the way the forest evolves and grows. A forest can be a place people go to for fresh air, hiking, camping, time in nature. All of this gives you a reflection to feel into and apply to different areas of your life.

The energy of trees reminds us to ground, to root into earth energy, which naturally supports our ability and desire to refresh our energy and to open our heart. Trees provide oxygen, shade and sometimes fruit. Trees are sometimes used as elements in manufacturing.

Let’s feel into this in relation to the love you mentioned. I covered grounding in depth in my reading for Tanya (in a different comment) so you may want to review that. Essentially, when you are grounded, centered, deeply, you are more open to be, receive in and share love. So, this might be an invitation to ground. When you are grounded, you are more trusting, more ‘balanced’, which means less afraid (or if fear is present, it doesn’t have power to re-direct your actions) – and as far as love, this allows you to be most present (even when you feel vulnerable).

Trees are rooted (as I mentioned) yet their branches and leaves reach up to the ‘heavens above’ and I feel this speaks to calling in angelic energy (I mention that because I know you believe in angel energy) and source energy, into this connection (and also into your heart, body, being as you are present to this connection and to the unfolding of daily life).

As I mentioned, we can clearly see the unfolding of natural cycles and seasons in a forest. Please remember this as this love unfolds – understanding there are dips and peaks and seemingly thriving moments and seemingly barren ones helps remove the entanglement from the process (the entanglement of emotions, attached to giving meaning to the natural cycles and seasons that is far different from, and not aligned with, the natural season – but can wreak havoc on the bond). Sometimes people panic when they don’t understand their relationship is in a natural season, and that panic is what causes disconnect and pain (and trees remind us, if you are panicked, ground….and breathe).
I tend to feel into the spiritual aspect of the intuitive soul call cards, but this could be a very literal invitation to *go to the forest*, to put your being among trees and to receive in the energy and soul medicine that is there for you.

There is also an expression that comes to mind ‘can’t see the forest through the trees’ which might have a message for you. The gist is to remember that when you are focusing on the detail of something (how will it work, and manipulating teeny variables to bring about a specific result) to pull back and scan out and consider the ‘big picture’ – which brings peace, and also often clarity. And, for me, it’s a reminder to make time to simply be, to remove my focus and attention and allow for some unfolding.

With that, I am sure ‘forest’ speaks to you in a specific way and has a meaning for you in a specific area.

I find, if you allow what I’ve presented to settle, as you move through your day, or the next few, some ‘aha’ will happen and this message will speak directly to you and make sense.

If you have any questions, or would like to share any insights or feedback, please do ask and/or share.
